About Raja
Dr. Raja Gopal Bhattar (pronouns they/them/their) hails from a long lineage of SriVaishnava pujaris (priests) and vidwans (scholars) from South India. They were born in India and grew up in Hindu temples across the U.S. Raja is trained in the spiritual and scriptural aspects of Hinduism and speaks five languages.
They work to reclaim progressive, feminist and inclusive perspectives of Hinduism, Sanathana Dharma and Vedic rituals. Raja is a genderqueer educator, author and leadership consultant based in Los Angeles, CA.
